Pensacola Fishing Charters June Fishing Forecast

June is one of the most popular months for fishing in the Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, Navarre, and Perdido Key area. It is hot outside and the waterways are often crowded, but kids are out of school and red snapper season is open.

Inshore

Good fishing for speckled trout and redfish can be expected. Your best bet for the trout will be to hit the flats early in the morning or look for them around structure like docks and rock piles throughout the day. Redfish can be found on residential docks and around the local bridges.

Spanish mackerel are always a popular summer species and can typically be found somewhere just about every day. You can ride around until you find them feeding on the surface or just troll out around Pensacola Pass and up and down the beach out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Offshore

It goes without saying, but red snapper will be the most popular species for anglers headed out into the Gulf of Mexico throughout the month of June. The season opens on June 11 and will close on July 25 in both Florida state waters and federal waters off Florida.

Offshore trolling is typically pretty good out around the Nipple and Spur during June and July as long as there is decent water in there. If you’re going to give it a shot it’s hard to beat ballyhoo with a Ilander lures when fishing for wahoo and dolphin.

Piers & Beaches

King and Spanish mackerel are the most popular species throughout the summer on the Pensacola Beach Gulf Fishing Pier and Navarre Beach Fishing Pier. If you’re headed out to one of the piers be sure to bring a king leader with some cigar minnows and a Gotcha Lure or two.

Bob Sikes Bridge and Fort Pickens Piers are good place to try during the month of June. You’ll likely find a mixed back of Spanish mackerel, redfish, flounder, and mangrove snapper. Live shrimp work great, but with the pinfish, you may be better off with alewives.
